Frozen Words
Artist Statement
I am interested in the concept of 'Construction'. In this exhibition, sequences of black and white portrait photographs are placed in a linear form, with the edges painted on different colours.
These sequential photographs are the conversations between the photographer and the models in the form of 'Words'. But these 'Words' are frozen and become silent languages. I didn't ask the models to perform in a particular way. The models acted in their own ways. All photographs tell my emotions, feelings and understanding of each model.
The painted edges of each sequential photograph also represent my interpretation of each portrait. It doesn't matter if I know the person or not. I choose the colours from my direct feeling. The notion of the 'Construction' on portraits, 'Words' and colours come from my imagination.
